FDE — engineer on the floor
A Forward Deployed Engineer with the business: wire the tool into real work, stay until people use it, then hand over.
The acronym comes from US product teams. In plain terms: an engineer who stays with your teams, not a vendor who drops a zip and leaves.
An FDE does not write a 60-page report. They sit with the work, wire the tool into a real file, and stay long enough that people can use it without them.

- A project manager who never touches the code
- An open-ended mission “we’ll see later”
