Context
Releases went through one workstation. Incidents were told on Slack. The cloud region was not written down, while the product already targeted European accounts.
What we did
CI/CD chain, observability, simple SLOs, secret and dependency scanning. Hosting region in the EU. A short runbook the team actually reads, not an abandoned wiki.
Result
More frequent deploys, lower MTTR, security in the flow rather than in a yearly audit. The CIO can say where the data runs.
